Safety Tips - Things to keep in your car
The UK has had a lot of weather related problems recently, mainly heavy snow fall. Thousands of people had to abandon their cars. Whilst most of the time you can walk to the nearest safety point there may be times you need to be prepared to have to stay with you car. It could even just be a mechanical fault and you're stuck in the middle of nowhere.
Coats - Many people get into their car with little clothing and just crank the heating on. What happens if your car heater broke? Battery flatten? Always keep warning clothing in your car. Even summer days can leave very cold nights should you be stranded overnight.
Blankets - Similar to keeping warm clothing a blanket might just save your life if you need to sleep in the car.
Car Battery Chargers / Jump-start kits - Car Batteries can easily be drained. Keeping something to help start you car is a very good idea.
Torch - If you need to inspect your car in the dark a touch will help you no-end. Having just the car lights on probably wouldn't be enough to check you tires / wheels or the sides of your car. Also if you car battery died you'll be with no light at all. Also handy for getting attention if required.
First aid kit - In some countries in a legal requirement to keep a first aid kit in your car but not in the UK. It should be. Simple cuts can lead to serious infection if not cleaned and covered.
In-car phone charger - A very cheap and simple device which will ensure your phones power will be available.
Water (bottled) - Helpful to top-up your cars water levels if overheating, screen wash just in case you run up and most importantly to keep you hydrated in emergencies.
