V5 Logbook
The V5 Logbook is essentially the "paper work" for the car. It's required to transfer the legal ownership from the seller to the buyer.
Only ever buy a vehicle where the owner has the full logbook, this is not proof of ownership in itself but is in the majority of cases. Also without this it could be that the car has been stolen. You will also need the V5 to register the vehicle in your name. Also be sure to check that the current owner of the vehicle is the person selling you the car.
Part of the transfer requires the seller to fill-out and there are sections for the buyer to fill-out. Never let seller fill out these parts on your behalf.
